Hello & Welcome to the Puzzle Piece website! The goal of Puzzle Piece is to develop creative solutions for each individual child. Each child is unique and Puzzle Piece’s philosophy is to embrace each child’s individual strengths and to utilize the child’s motivation to help them achieve their goals. Family Training is an important part of our success. Good teachers and therapist come and go, but parents and family members are there for a lifetime.

Puzzle Piece utilizes the DIR/Floortime model developed by Dr. Stanley Greenspan. As a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry, Behavioral Science and Pediatrics at George Washington University Medical School, Greenspan established Floortime as an interactive play strategy to teach children with developmental difficulties.

There is no ‘one-size-fits all

for children with special needs.

Floor Time was designed to strengthen individuals’ cognitive, emotional, social and physical development. Emphasis is placed on facilitating two-way communication and developing logical thought.

Cognitive Therapy

Puzzle Piece in collaboration with

Dr. Andra Munger

of The Interactive Learning Center of Boston

Our therapeutic approach emphasizes critical thinking and problem solving abilities versus the acquisition of rote strategies. Making mistakes can be an important part of a child’s path to learning. Our goal is to help the child to confidently confront new learning challenges with a belief in their own ability to think critically and solve problems.
